I am Rahul Singh from Pune and a regular buyer at webstore.com, your online shopping portal. I am writing this letter to express my disappointment with a recent purchase (order number 7298883).

I had ordered a set of cricket equipment that were advertised on your site as a package including 3 pairs of socks and a pair of cricket shoes. However, on delivery, I found out that there were only 2 pairs of socks. In addition, there were scratches on the shoes that suggest that they had been used prior.

Strengths of the writer

The writer has provided a stellar answer to the instructions given. The sentences are smooth and crisp. There is a variety of sentence structures and perfect use of connectors. It uses the bare minimum words required to get all the points across, which is an excellent positive in written communication. 

Weakness of the writer and Solutions

The writer could have benefitted from displaying some ideal signs of variety in sentences, like using ‘not only, but also’, for which there was just the apt opportunity. 

The writer could have framed the sentence like ‘However, on delivery, not only did I receive one pair of socks lesser than advertised, but also the shoes seem to be scratched, suggesting that they have been used prior.’ Sentences like this add complexity to the letter since it combines multiple ideas in one sentence. This is just for those brownie points though!

I, Siddhi Sarnaik, recently purchased a microwave oven from your website. I am writing this letter to express my disappointment with the recent purchase.

Strengths of the writer

The letter above precisely addresses each instruction correctly. Also, the author maintains a formal tone throughout the letter without any issue.

All ideas are sufficiently explained without repetitions. Moreover, these ideas are well connected within the paragraphs without overusing the linking words. Furthermore, all paragraphs have a definite purpose which makes the reader’s life easy.

All words are precisely used, and their repetition is avoided. Also, all sentence structures are grammatically correct and display a decent variety.

Weaknesses of the writer and solutions

Honestly, it is hard to find any shortcomings in this letter. However, the transition from the introduction to body paragraph could have been more smooth. The word recently is repeated in the consecutive statements and could have easily been avoided.

I am Shailaja Naik  from Pune. I am writing this letter to express my disappointment with my last purchase having an order identification number  01HW55013.

Body Paragraph 1

Two days ago, I bought an elegant gold plated diamond necklace from your renowned online shopping website. The chain is as beautiful as it is shown in the image. However, I noticed that the hook provided is not functioning well. As a result, I am not able to wear it. Moreover, the gold plating is of very cheap quality and lost its lustre in just single wear.

Looking at its quality, I feel the item is not worth 600 rupees, and I would like to return it right away. I request you to refund the amount in my bank account, through which I made the payment.
