Television is one of the rarest legacies of the twentieth century that we have carried in this world of smart gadgets. While children are exposed to different content all the time, the least priority is allotted to evaluate the development’s repercussions. It’s high time that we all recognise the negatives of these programmes.

Let’s discuss the negative impacts of the progress. Firstly, cartoons form the prominent pedigree of young television viewership, which exposes youngsters to foul language and violence. Children fall for special effects and out of the world fight sequences, often compromising their own safety. Secondly, movies, songs and daily soaps paint a disoriented picture of relations, work ethics and overall life, which sometimes lead to the glorification of negative traits, denting innocent minds for a lifetime.

On the other hand, many people argue that there are many positive impacts of T.V. programmes on children. There are many informative shows, which may be very rare compared to other programs, on science, technology, history and art, which have the potential to impact child’s future career choice. However, it’s a common sight in every household that children are attracted to the programs, which have negative implications. Very few progenies tune into an informative programme. Even parents are to be blamed for lack of guidance and monitoring on their offspring’s television habits.

Looking back, most influential television shows impart inappropriate information and may also rob off children of their innocence. In fact, they make them biased in life choices, which is detrimental. In conclusion, current television programs are worthless for children.

  • However, body paragraphs must be structured in a better way. The author considers excellent ideas but gives up on them too soon.

  • In body paragraph 2, the author explains why TV programmes can not offer any positives to children. He or she explains what many people may consider favourable, but most children are attracted to the negatives on TV in reality.
  • In the last paragraph, the author summarises the points and reinstates the position well.

Introduction

Television has taken over, influencing the new generations over year and years but has now reached its peak. Talking about how it influences the children, I believe it has always helped make children learn something good.

Body Paragraph 1 on positive values of TV Programmes to children

Let us first elaborate on the advantageous factors of television. Children are expected to know more about the world and life, which will not necessarily be available anywhere else. Television helps here bring the knowledge sources to them, which they might not be able to get in person. There are many educational channels and learning classes that will help children know more about their interests. Children mostly prefer this media because it entertains them more than a book or a classroom lecture. Eventually, children can acquire a variety of knowledge that too at their comfort. This does not only makes children smarter but also helps them to be aware of world news.

On the other hand, some people may advocate that television programs are of no real value for children. Up to some extent, the programs may indeed appear to be a bad influence on the children. Some programs showcase and sublimate negative values, adultery, violence, etc., affecting children’s mindsets. It may change the way children behave and often will confuse them. But at the same time, there are some preventive measures. It can be avoided by using tools like parental controls on such programs and proper counselling. To cope with technology, children must have to be taught how to deal with the negative things that come with technology.

Television programs are beneficial for children and can help them learn good values. Of course, there are some chances that children may get confused watching something they should not watch, but with the proper guidance, this threat can be eliminated.

  • Although the introduction is acceptable, awkward word usage affects the meaning of the sentence adversely. “Talking about …” such phrases are not expected in IELTS Essays.
  • The points presented deviate from the main topic, and often the reader wonders whether they are reading about TV programmes. 

For examples, “Children are expected to know more and more about the world and life, which will not necessarily be available anywhere else. Television helps here bring the knowledge sources to them, which they might not be able to get in person.

  • At the same time, the author diverts from the main point too often. For example, while talking about the negatives of TV programmes in body paragraph 2, the writer talks about avoiding the negatives effects of technology. Now, tech and TV programmes and are different. 
  • This essay needs a lot of work to be acceptable. 

A better essay on values by TV programmes to children

Television is one of the rarest legacies of the twentieth century that telecasts many TV programmes which affect our children. Looking at this trend, one must evaluate whether these programmes offer bad or good values for our future generation. It’s high time that we all recognise the positives of these programmes.

TV programmes teach many good values to children. Firstly, children are exposed to information on Science, History, and Arts that intrigue young minds. Such programmes may ignite interests in a wide variety of topics and help them perform well in school. Secondly, many cartoons which are based on traditions impart moral education at the end of the programme. Such programmes impart human values, manners, and etiquette to offspring. For example, my nephew learned to share his toys with my family after watching a cartoon on Chotta Bheem, a mythological character.

On the other hand, a few people might complain about the negatives of TV programmes on children. Innocent youngsters are dented by superheroes as such characters are appreciated even after violence. Children need appreciation, and hence they may blindly imitate action sequences hurting themselves and others. However, the children must be counselled by parents and teachers to enjoy such TV features with a conscience. Once they realise that it is only for entertainment, they can enjoy TV programmes without being violent or hurting anyone.

In summary, informative TV shows and shows with moral values may turn children into useful adults for society. Although some of the children may display violent behaviour, the youth’s guardians can counsel them appropriately so that the young generation can enjoy TV with a conscience. Overall, in my opinion, barring a few programmes, watching T.V. shows is helpful for children.
