  • Explain why they were unhappy about the food
  • Suggest what the manager should do to improve the food in future

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

IELTS Letter 1 to the hotel about dissatisfaction

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Shilpa Kamat, working as an event manager at Intex. I am writing this letter to convey my dissatisfaction regarding the food your hotel served at lunch during  Intex’s conference last month.

Body paragraph 1 about what people liked

After two days of the conference, I asked for feedback from all the participants within the company about the event, in which they appreciated your hotel ambience, sitting and lighting arrangements and clean sanitation facilities.

Body Paragraph 2 about reasons people were unhappy about the food

However, they were disappointed with the food you served for lunch as some of them said that there was very little variety available to choose from. Also, a few of them mentioned that they observed dirty dishes as they were smelly and tasting weird.

Body Paragraph 3 about suggestions

To solve this issue, I would suggest you inspect the food quality before serving. Also, you could offer more variety so that people will have enough options to choose from even if they don’t like few dishes. Lastly, try to keep the food’s taste up to the mark as customers trust you and give you the responsibility.

End paragraph

I will appreciate it if you make the above changes for the next conference. I am looking forward to having good quality services from your side in future.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours faithfully,

Shilpa Kamat
