You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

Last month you visited some overseas friends for a holiday.

Write a letter to your friends. In your letter:

  • thank them for the holidays and the photos
  • explain why you didn’t write earlier
  • invite them to your home for the next holiday

You should write at least 150 words.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Tom and Smith,

I hope this letter finds you all in pink of your health. I am still hung on our recent holiday in Paris.

Body Paragraph 1

A big thank you for arranging such wonderful trip with the best possible accommodation and interesting trips to local sites including Eiffel Tower. Also, I can not appreciate the beautiful picture that you clicked on the top of the tower enough.

Body Paragraph 2

Unfortunately, I could not write back to you earlier because of the new office project that I had talked to you about. Since, I had a backlog to cover due to my trip to your place, I had to work extra hours to compensate for my absence.

Body Paragraph 3

As my project is completing by November end, I invite you to Mumbai to spend some time with us during Christmas vacation. We can plan to visit the famous India Gate and some iconic beaches. I can even take you to shop for local Indian novelties. Moreover, I can introduce you to my family and other friends with whom we can plan new year’s party.

How many bands do you think this letter deserves?

The author follows all instructions stated in the task. The letter has well-structured paragraphs which are interconnected. The ideas and sentences are appropriately linked with linking devices as well. Ideas are not repeated at all. The writer also has used a variety of words and grammatical structures well. All sentences are clearly understood without any ambiguity.

So, the letter deserves about 8 bands.
