In my immediate family, there are four people aside from me – my mother, my father and my maternal grandparents. Earlier, my maternal grandparents used to live away from us but they joined us after the pandemic.
I suppose that I am close with my father. We share very similar personality traits. We also love the same things. For example, I got my love of photography from him.
No, we do not. All our family members except for the immediate ones live far away from each other.
We usually hold debates or play games on weekends. The debates are held on any topic that we must all be familiar with. We also listen of traditional Kashmiri music together. The music choices are my family’s and are a part of folklore.
I think one of the reasons my family is vital to me is we stick together in rough times. We take care of each other and take important decisions together.
You should mention:
On my eighteenth birthday we all go together to celebrate the occasion. Since, unfortunately, I had my board exams on my actual birthday, we were unable to get together on that day. However, after the exams were over, my parents and I invited the entire family to get together for a party.
We booked a hotel hall not too far away from my room. Almost all members of my family came for the celebration. We sang songs as well as danced. There were games as well as puzzles. The party lasted approximately three hours. I did hope that it would last a lot longer, but we had paid for that particular time only and therefore, we had to wrap up the party.
If I got the opportunity, I would like to do it again as there has not been such a party in the family for years. Overtime, members of the family moved away from one city to the next due to job opportunities or their children were admitted in colleges out of town. So, if we all got together, it would be amazing.
You should mention:
One of my relatives who I am close with is Harish. He is tall, thin, and lean. He prefers wearing clothing with silver and gold colours. He is bald and he is physically and mentally stronger than he looks. He loves exotic food as well as looking at sunsets.
His character can best be described as strong. He never backs down from a challenge. He works hard to solve every problem that has come his way and has manages to overcome a lot of issues in his life.
At the moment, he is currently working as a scientist in the field of Biology. He works primarily in Africa to make vaccines for diseases that might be lethal to Africans as well as the rest of the world. Currently, he is currently working on one of the vaccines for the Covid-19 virus and ways to make the delivery system more effective. He is also involved in planning a way for the vaccines to be delivered to those who cannot afford them. He is also a consultant to Doctors without Borders.
Yes. In South Asian country like India, our society places a lot of emphasis on family. Parents are supposed to reside with their daughters or their sons, depending on whom they choose. In the past, the nuclear family was a common thing to be born into.
I believe that the government should be responsible for the care of the elderly because the elderly members of the society have already served the country with their service. In the senile age they usually are not fit to work, and thus the government owes them for the past service.
Over the last few decades, individualism has risen due to globalisation in our country as well. This has led to smaller or nuclear families compared to that in the past. Earlier, it was very common for people to live in nuclear families and support each other. Now, more and more families live in groups of three or four.
I believe that there will be a time when all families will be nuclear. This means that the family will consist of the parents and the children only and not grandparents. This has already begun to happen globally. The main reason for this change would be the fact that almost everyone is ready to leave their town for a better career.
I do believe that due to the inherently different nature of a man and a woman, husband and wife has separate roles to play. Usually, women are better organised and manage things well, and so they should be in charge of the household. On the other hand, men can assess risks and threats to the family better, and so they should look after those concerns.
I believe that grandparents act as advisors to their children as well as the grandchildren. Whenever the younger members of the family are in any trouble with their life experiences the older ones can calm them down.
